Precision Innovation, Quality Redefined: Dr. Zhang Xiaohua of AnYiPu Unveils Breakthroughs in Domestic Small-Molecule Orbitrap High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry at Huairou Mass Spectrometry Forum

From 7 to 18, the 9th Forum on Mass Spectrometry Instrument R&D and Huairou Mass Spectrometry Industry Development Forum was grandly held in Huairou, Beijing. With the theme "Precision 'Quality' Innovation, Seeing the Future through Spectroscopy," the forum brought together representatives from domestic research institutes, universities, industry associations, instrument manufacturers, and end-user organizations. It focused on key topics such as breakthroughs in core mass spectrometry technologies, industrialization implementation, expansion of application scenarios, and the construction of an innovative ecosystem for domestic scientific instruments, creating a deep platform for collaboration among industry, academia, research, and applications.
High-end mass spectrometers are core instruments that underpin cutting-edge scientific research and safeguard supply chain security. Electrostatic Orbitrap high-resolution mass spectrometry, in particular, has long been dominated by foreign technology, representing a critical "bottleneck" challenge. During the forum, Dr. Zhang Xiaohua, Chairman of Suzhou Anyipu Precision Instrument Co., Ltd., was invited to deliver a keynote presentation titled "Development of Small-Molecule Electrostatic Orbitrap High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry," sharing his team's innovative breakthroughs in the domestic R&D of advanced electrostatic Orbitrap mass spectrometers.
In the report, Dr. Zhang Xiaohua began with the foundational theory of electrostatic Orbitrap mass spectrometry, systematically traced the technology's evolution, and deeply analyzed the end-to-end R&D journey of their self-developed instruments. Unlike simple integration models, the Anyipu team has persisted in bottom-up technological innovation, tackling key challenges such as trap structure optimization, ion control algorithms, and precision machining of core components, ultimately establishing a complete system of independent intellectual property rights.
Leveraging a series of proprietary technology enhancements, our team has developed China's first domestically engineered electrostatic orbitrap mass spectrometer. This system achieves ultra-high-resolution, precise detection of small molecules and offers robust capabilities for identifying unknown compounds in complex matrices. Designed to support cutting-edge strategic applications such as in-situ space exploration, it fully demonstrates the proven performance strength and broad application potential of domestic high-end mass spectrometry instruments.
For years, the core technology of electrostatic orbitrap high-resolution mass spectrometry has faced significant barriers and a long development cycle, making it a key focus for achieving domestic self-reliance in scientific instrumentation. Anyspect has dedicated years to R&D in mass spectrometry instruments, advancing the localization of full-spectrum technologies including quadrupole, triple quadrupole, and electrostatic orbitrap systems, steadily narrowing the gap with global leaders. Sharing our progress on small-molecule electrostatic orbitrap high-resolution mass spectrometry at the Huairou Mass Spectrometry Industry Forum reflects industry recognition of our independent innovation and provides a valuable reference for technical exchange among domestic peers.
Dr. Zhang Xiaohua stated that Huairou Science City has concentrated top-tier research resources and boasts a prominent innovation ecosystem for the mass spectrometry industry. He expressed his expectation to leverage this forum as an opportunity to engage in continuous dialogue and collaboration with industry experts and partners, advancing the iteration of domestic mass spectrometry technologies and their application scenarios, while jointly fostering the coordinated development of China's mass spectrometry industry.
Looking ahead, AnYiPu will remain committed to its core mission of independent R&D, continuously advancing innovation in high-end mass spectrometry instruments. We are expanding the application boundaries of domestically produced mass spectrometers across environmental monitoring, food safety testing, biomedical research, and aerospace exploration. Through cutting-edge instrument innovation, we aim to help China's analytical instrumentation industry transition from "following" to "running alongside" and ultimately "leading," contributing homegrown strength to high-quality development in the country's analysis and testing sector.
